SIPTU members employed in the RMS Group Services depot on Montgomery Road, Belfast, served notice of their intention to strike for one week commencing on Tuesday, 9th August, at 9.00 a.m.
The company specialises in cash management services and security systems, including cash-in-transit and ATM services.
SIPTU Organiser, Niall McNally, said: “Union members voted by over 90% to take strike action due to the company’s intransigence in dealing with their concerns over workload, overtime rates and their right to have a recognised union.
“The company has failed to show any collective effort to address the concerns of the workforce over the last five months. Despite repeated attempts, management has failed to engage with SIPTU representatives. The attitude displayed towards their union by their employer has deeply angered our members.”
He added: “Our members regret the impact this strike might cause to the general public but believe they have no other option. The cash-in-transit business is a busy and dangerous industry and our members play a vital role in replenishing and protecting cash supplies for the businesses and the wider community.”
