Delegates from the Public Administration and Community Division of SIPTU will assemble in Liberty Hall, Dublin for their biennial conference on Thursday, 10th and Friday, 11th November.
The conference will be attended by over 180 delegates and observers from across the Local Authority, Education, State Industrial and Community sector employments.
Conference delegates will debate the issue of pay restoration, recruitment and outsourcing in the public service and the growth of precarious employment in the education sector. It will also discuss the need for urgent renegotiation of the Lansdowne Road Agreement (LRA) in the light of the recovery of the economy.
Delegates will also call on the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Paschal Donohoe, to expedite the establishment of the Community Sector High Level Forum which was formed by the previous government during the discussions that led to the LRA last year.
The conference will be addressed by a number of keynote speakers over the two days including Tom McDonnell, of the Nevin Economic Research Institute and Christine Jakob of the European Public Services Union.
The SIPTU Divisional conference will convene at 10.30 a.m. on Thursday, 10th November, in Liberty Hall, Dublin 1.
