SIPTU members employed by NCT service accept Labour Court Recommendation on pay

Date Released: 24 January 2018

SIPTU members employed by Applus National Car Testing (NCT) service have formally accepted a Labour Court recommendation in relation to pay and conditions which includes permanency for employees currently on fixed terms contracts.

SIPTU Organiser, Robert Purfield, said: “Our members voted in a ballot in December by an overwhelming majority to accept the proposals contained in the Labour Court recommendation. We have formally contacted the company to inform it of our members’ decision.

“The recommendation includes a 2% pay rise backdated to 1st April 2017, a further 2% pay rise on 1st April 2018 and a 2.5% pay rise on 1st April 2019. Our members will also receive a €500 voucher to cover the period from July 2016 to March 2017.”

He added: “The recommendation also contains a commitment by the company that on acceptance of the proposals it will begin a process of moving those staff currently on fixed term contracts into permanent positions.

“The state contract for the NCT service is due to go out to tender shortly and will be awarded for a new period beginning at the start 2020. This agreement provides our members with certainty ahead of that process.”
