The need to organise more workers into our union was the defining issue at the SIPTU Biennial Delegate Conference held in the Galmont Hotel in Galway City in November last year and attended by a large delegation from the Aviation Sector.

Motions passed by Conference delegates also committed the union to do “all we can to stop hate organising in our communities and workplaces”, as well as campaign for greater action on the cost-of-living crisis and the commencement of a massive social house-building scheme.

RMT General Secretary, Mick Lynch, delivered a warmly received speech in which he called for a “union revival”. He said: “Trade unions are agents of progress; we need to galvanise people to fight for change and a better society. That is our mission.”
