Since revolutionary forces led by Fidel Castro and Che Guevara liberated Cuban from a US backed dictatorship in 1959 the Caribbean country has faced political, economic and military attack from its massive northern neighbour. Through information campaigns within the Union, and publically in conjunction with other organisations, the SIPTU Solidarity with Cuba forum seeks to increase awareness about Cuba and its people. The forum’s activities strive to promote and defend the right of the Cuban people to determine their future without outside interference and highlight the inhuman and illegal US economic blockade of the island.
