SIPTU members in workplaces across the country are being asked to contribute to a Christmas collection for the Milne Food workers who have been conducting a campaign of strike action at the company’s plant in Birr, Co. Offaly, since 11th July. SIPTU Organiser, Michael Browne, said: “The Milne Foods workers have maintained a series of one and two day stoppages since July in a dispute that results from the company’s failure to implement a Labour Court recommendation in relation to workers' conditions of employment.”He added: “SIPTU members generous contributions to the workers strike fund has kept them motivated and inspired to continue. During the Christmas period we are asking that members consider holding workplace collections to provide further support for the Milne Foods workers.”Those wishing to contribute to the Milne Foods Strikers Support Fund or receive poster advertising a workplace collection should contact the SIPTU Manufacturing Division, Liberty Hall, Dublin 1, or email rdonaghey@siptu.ie
