SIPTU representatives have engaged with the Department of Social Protection concerning the delay in processing payments to workers made redundant by the civil engineering and construction firm, Roadbridge, after it was placed in receivership. SIPTU Sector Organiser, John Regan, said: “We have been advised that workers can contact the Department of Social Protection to begin the processing of their individual redundancy payments. Workers had been unable to access all the payments due to them for several weeks. “This was due the directors of Roadbridge failing to provide a written statement of company affairs to the Department until last week. This is a statutory requirement and the delay in fulfilling it resulted in the Department being unable process the payments. It is situation which has left workers in unnecessary financial hardship after long service with Roadbridge.” He added: “The situation was further exacerbated by the receiver, Grant Thornton, failing to deliver basic information to Revenue concerning the collective employment termination date of these workers. Due to this the workers have to enter their individual termination date to secure their payments.” SIPTU Organiser, Stephen Lewis, said: “Workers can begin the payment processing themselves by accessing their Revenue Online Service (ROS) account where they can update their end of employment date. When the date of termination is updated, members should email redundancypayments@welfare.ie with their name PPS Number and confirmation that they have updated their date of termination of employment on ROS.” He added: “SIPTU members experiencing any problems in relation to this process can contact their union organiser for assistance.”
