SIPTU has continued to engage with health service employers, under the auspices of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), on issues regarding staffing in our mental health services.

A further meeting took place at the WRC on 21st August in a bid to make progress on the issues. The WRC hearing was adjourned without any significant movement made on the issues raised and no further date for engagement has been confirmed.

SIPTU representatives took the opportunity at the recent WRC engagement to highlight members’ concerns regarding staffing deficits in mental health services.

SIPTU has also requested a meeting with the Minister of State for Mental Health and Older Persons, Mary Butler, to raise our concerns about staffing.
