Ireland’s largest trade union has joined the growing number of progressive organisations calling for a ‘Yes’ vote in the Marriage Equality referendum which will take place in May. A meeting of the SIPTU National Executive Committee, today (Friday, 23rd January), called on the union's members to vote ‘Yes’.Commenting on the decision, SIPTU Campaigns and Equality Organiser, Ethel Buckley, said: "In a real Republic based on equal citizenship, civil marriage should be open to all citizens.
