SIPTU has welcomed the intervention of the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) in a dispute involving the Catholic Church and a former employee. SIPTU Sector Organiser, Adrian Kane, said: “The LRC informed SIPTU this afternoon (Friday, 23rd August) that it has scheduled time next week for a preliminary meeting in relation to the dispute between Bearna Parish and its former Parish Coordinator.“In light of this positive development it has been decided to suspend a planned protest outside the Church of Mary Immaculate Queen in Bearna, Co. Galway, which was due to occur this Sunday, 25th August.”
