Following weeks of negotiations at national level, agreement has been reached between SIPTU, HSE and Department of Health representatives on the allocation of grades to create Local Bargaining Units for the purpose of negotiations on pay rises in line with the Public Service Agreement.

This process is required to allocate the 1% payment due from September 1st, 2025 under the Public Service Agreement. Under the latest Public Service Agreement, Unions are allowed negotiate up to an additional 3% of pay costs, inclusive of allowances, for grades, groups, or categories of workers.

The first 1% of this local bargaining fund is payable from September 1st, 2025 with the remaining 2% to be payable under the terms of the new successor agreement.
