Following a protracted pay dispute which began in 2022 and included a vote for industrial action, a long-term pay agreement was concluded for members in Zenith-Bantry Bay Terminals Ltd, County Cork.

The pay agreement reached expires on the 31st September 2027. The pay element of this agreement is as follows:

1st April 2023 – 4% increase

1st April 2024 – 3.5% increase

1st April 2025 – 3% increase

1st April 2026 – 2.5% increase

1st January 2027 – 2.5% increase

SIPTU Sector Organiser, Willie Noone, said: “This was a protracted dispute that involved members having to vote for industrial action to attain decent pay rises and avoid unnecessary compulsory redundancies. Due to the profile of the membership and the fact that a dispute resulting in industrial action was narrowly avoided the members wanted a long term pay deal.”

He added: “It was also agreed that the new public holiday, St Brigid’s Day, would attract an extra day’s pay for all shift workers and for those on shift who work that day would get an additional day in lieu. This outcome was only achieved by the members showing great solidarity and clearly indicates the value of union membership.”
