Members of the SIPTU Sligo Leitrim Roscommon District Council have today (Friday, 31st March) written to the HSE Head of Superannuation seeking payment of arrears in pensions for retired health service staff. It is understood that some arrears in pension payments are due from February 2022. “Pensioners have suffered from the cost of living crisis in the same way if not worse than their former colleagues and they are in need of an increase too”, said SIPTU HSE Retired Members Committee member John James McLoughlin. “This is a national issue for our members and it would be a grave error by the powers that be to believe that SIPTU retired members are prepared to be ignored and to sit back and do nothing about it”, said SIPTU HSE Retired Members Committee Secretary, Paula Nairn. SIPTU Retired Members representatives will present themselves at the Offices of the HSE Superannuation Department in Manorhamilton, county Leitrim on Tuesday 4th April at 10.30 a.m., to seek a response from the HSE Head of the Superannuation Section who deals with pensions in the HSE nationally.
