Sabina Coyne-Higgins, wife of President Michael D Higgins, will take to the stage in a performance of Under Which Flag? a play written by the Easter Rising leader, James Connolly, in the Liberty Hall Theatre, Eden Quay, Dublin 1, on Saturday (15th October) night at 8.00 p.m. Under Which Flag? was first performed in Liberty Hall in March 1916, just a month before its writer and director, James Connolly, went out to lead the rebel forces in the Easter Rising. SIPTU Campaigns and Equality Organiser, Karan O’Loughlin, said: “Under Which Flag? tells the story of the Fenian Rising of 1867 and considers the tradition of armed insurrection against British rule in which its author was to play a defining role. It is a truly historic event that the play will once more return to the stage in Liberty Hall on the centenary of its premiere here.” She added: “That Sabina Higgins is playing a leading role in it adds to this performance’s fitting place as one of the last major events of this year’s highly successful commemoration of the Easter Rising.” President Higgins and the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Brendan Carr, will be among those attending the play on Saturday.  The cast also includes Lisa Lambe, Donna Anita Nikolaisen, Frank O’Sullivan, Brendan Conroy, Steve Gunn and Steve Cash. The production is presented and produced by Bryan Murray and directed by Kevin McGee. Tickets remain available from Central Ticket Bureau at www.ctb.ie or telephone 01 872 1122.
