As staff numbers continue to grow in Uisce Éireann, the state-owned water utility company, so does its SIPTU membership necessitating the need for people to step forward and become Shop Stewards.

SIPTU TEAC Divisional Organiser, Willie Noone, said: “Shop Stewards are the backbone of our Union. They have the responsibility of representing members and organising workers in the workplace. The role can be demanding but is also rewarding in that you play an active role in shaping the future of the workplace and our Union.”

Meanwhile, SIPTU Deputy General Secretary John King also renewed the call for the Government to honour their word and hold a referendum to provide constitutional protection against the future privatisation of public water services.
