The SIPTU Biennial National Delegate Conference takes place in City Hall, Cork, from Monday, 5th October to Thursday, 8th October. The conference will debate motions on the economy, the housing crisis, health, pensions, public transport and international issues among others. Among the guest speakers addressing the event are US trade union leader Scott Courtney, who will discuss his role as the Organising Director of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and Middle East Children’s Alliance Projects Director, Dr. Mona El Farra, who will talk about her work with traumatised children of Gaza in Palestine.During the conference the Great 1913 Lockout Tapestry, which in 30 panels recounts the story of this defining event in Irish trade union history, will be on display in City Hall and is open to the public.Over 350 delegates will attend the four days of discussions.
