SIPTU members at Cork airport have criticised the refusal of OCS (Ireland) Ltd. to accept an invitation to attend the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) regarding the decision by the company to make three workers compulsorily redundant. SIPTU Aviation Organiser, Tony Carroll said: “The refusal by OCS (Ireland) Ltd to attend a hearing of the WRC is unacceptable and all the more surprising as OCS is currently in receipt of government supports, including EWSS payments. “The three union members concerned are employed to assist passengers with reduced mobility and we believe there are alternatives to these compulsory redundancies, particularly given the expected recovery in aviation traffic at the airport by early summer.” “We are calling on OCS Management to halt the compulsory redundancy process and to attend the WRC to explore these alternatives.” OCS provides a range of services at Cork Airport, including in cleaning and baggage security.
