SIPTU Dublin Bus drivers are attending general meetings in Liberty Hall today (Monday, 12th August) where they are being briefed on Labour Court proposals on company cost savings. The proposals were published following over night talks last week between union representatives and the management of Dublin Bus. Following today’s briefing drivers and SIPTU members in other grades in Dublin Bus will vote on the proposals in a ballot scheduled to take place on Thursday, 15th and Friday, 16th August. SIPTU Organiser, John Murphy, said: “We are making every effort to ensure that all our members are fully briefed on the content of these proposals prior to the commencement of the balloting process.” He added: “These proposals clear up a number of ambiguities concerning changes to work practices which had been evident in the previous Labour Court proposals. The company has also provided clear commitments as to when workers terms and conditions will revert to normal and assurances that it will seek no further cuts during the period of this proposed deal.”
