SIPTU members in Element Six in Shannon, County Clare, have deferred for two weeks a 24-hour work stoppage which was scheduled to begin today (Wednesday, 21st September) in order to continue talks with management at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC). SIPTU Organiser, Ray Mitchell, said: “This dispute concerns the failure of management to fully implement a Labour Court recommendation in relation to changes of work practices and shift patterns at the industrial diamond manufacturing plant. “The workers have decided to defer their work stoppage in order to concentrate efforts on the talks at the WRC in the hope that a resolution to the dispute can be agreed.”
