SIPTU’s campaign for pay justice for waste workers and reform of the domestic waste sector is paying political dividends. A cross-party Group has been established in the Dáil to reform the domestic waste sector.

SIPTU waste representatives met the cross-party group in Dáil Eireann in May. At this meeting, Norwegian trade unionists informed the Group, by video link, about its successful campaign to bring the domestic waste collection service back into state control.

On 9th July SIPTU waste representatives were invited to address the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate and Environment where we told the politicians about the substandard wages and conditions in the waste sector.
