SIPTU General President, Jack O’Connor, has offered the condolences of union members to the families of those killed and those injured in the bombing in Manchester last night (Monday, 22nd May). “On behalf of our union I express my deepest condolences and solidarity to all those affected by the tragic events in Manchester last night. The attack on a concert with an audience which overwhelmingly consisted of young people and children is a new level of barbarity. Manchester is a city with which our union has many connections and we are sending a strong message of solidarity to its communities today. He added: “We must instead react with solidarity and remain committed to the true path of building societies which are based on respect and where those who carry out such atrocities are isolated and punished appropriately.”
