SIPTU members are seeking an urgent meeting with the management of drinks manufacturer C&C Group to discuss a report that it intends to close its water-bottling plant in Borrisoleigh, County Tipperary, in July. SIPTU Organiser, Terry Bryan, said: “We have contacted the management of the company seeking an urgent meeting to discuss the veracity of a report in The Irish Times this morning that the company intends to close its water-bottling plant in Borrisoleigh, County Tipperary, during the summer. “The report also states that the company intends to make a further investment in its operations in Clonmel. The company has made no comment on either of these issues and the report has come as shock to our members.” He added: “Later today the SIPTU workplace committees in both the Borrisoleigh and Clonmel plants will meet with local management to discuss the situation. We intend to engage with senior management at the company as soon as possible to confirm its intentions and to ensure the interests of our members are respected.”
