SIPTU members working in First Choice Credit Union in Ballyhaunis, Achill and Castlebar have today (Monday, 4th March) served notice of industrial action in a dispute concerning pay, travel time and other terms and conditions at the company. SIPTU Sector Organiser, Pat Flannery, said: “Our members have decided that industrial action beginning on Friday 15th March is the only option left available to them. The workers voted overwhelmingly to reject a Labour Court recommendation recently. Management has so far not been willing to engage with union representatives.” He added: “Our members have raised serious concerns on pay equalisation, travel pay and bottom line wage increases but so far management has chosen to ignore our requests for a meeting to find a workable solution and prevent a lengthy period of industrial action from developing, starting with this five hour work stoppage on Friday next.”
