SIPTU representatives will be seeking detailed reasons for the proposed closure of the Cuisle Accessible Holiday Resort, county Roscommon, and calling for the decision to be reversed at a meeting with the Irish Wheelchair Association on Friday, 8th November. SIPTU Cuisle shop steward, Breda Gaffey, said: “This is devastating news for everybody. Working at Cuisle has been our life and we never expected this.” SIPTU Sector Organiser, Eddie Mullins, said: “Our members and the service users are in a state of shock following the announcement by Irish Wheelchair Association that it intends to close the centre at the end of November which would result in 50 job losses. The Centre provides respite holidays and has been in operation for over 20 years.” He added: “We have arranged a meeting with the management of the Irish Wheelchair Association on Friday. At this meeting we will seek detailed reasons for the closure of Cuisle Accessible Holiday Resort and be calling for the decision to be reversed.”
