SIPTU General Secretary, Joe Cunningham, will outline the union’s STOP67 campaign to reverse the pension age increase to age 67 in 2021 and 68 in 2028, in Dublin on Thursday 23rd January. The event will take place at 11.00 a.m. in the Cheyne Room, Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, Kildare Street, Dublin 2. Other speakers will include Orla O’Connor, director of the National Women’s Council of Ireland, Paddy Connolly, chief executive of Age Action and Maureen Kavanagh, chief executive of Active Retirement Ireland. SIPTU Deputy General Secretary, Ethel Buckley, will chair the event while SIPTU economic researcher, Michael Taft, will outline details of the union’s policy for the STOP67 campaign. It will also be attended by a number of those affected by the retirement age increase as well trade union, political and advocacy groups who have endorsed the campaign.
