SIPTU welcomes today's application of the construction sector SEO, which will see an increase of 1.9% in the minimum hourly rates of pay for workers. The new hourly minimum rates are as follows: craftsperson, €21.49; Category A worker, €20.86; Category B worker, €19.35. SIPTU members will also see increased benefits to their sick and pension schemes. SIPTU Sector Organiser, John Regan, said: "We acknowledge the construction employers who have confirmed the application of the SEO construction payment. From today, this will add 1.9% to basic pay for SIPTU members. "SIPTU Divisional Organiser, Adrian Kane, said: "With inflation running at 6.3%, construction employers will not be allowed to just sit back and apply the minimum pay increases. Our union will continue to engage with construction companies until cost-of-living pay increases have been satisfactorily addressed."
