The 'Youth for Decent Work Awards' is fast approaching – 26th February, 2015. The all Ireland second level student video competition run by ICTU's Youth Connect Programme is now in its second year and building on the success of last year's event which hosted over 400 students in the Savoy Cinema, Dublin. This year's award ceremony will take place on Thursday, February 26th, from 2.00-4.00pm. The ceremony will be held in Screen 1 @ The Savoy, Ireland's most exclusive movie premiere space, and we hope to attract over 600 students, teachers and other members of the school community. The aim of the awards is to once again celebrate student creativity and engagement with aspects of the Decent Work Agenda and Trade Union Movement's ethos. This year students were asked to research Income Inequality, its impact on society, and possible solutions. Their interpretations of this theme will once again highlight the concerns of young people on important issues like income inequality and inspire others to take an interest. The ceremony will once again be hosted by Celebrity MC, Aaron Heffernan AKA 'Garda Gavin' from Love/Hate. The 5 nominees in each of the 3 judging categories will have their videos screened and the winners from each will be announced and an award presented. This year's categories include: 'Best Acting', 'Best Interpretation' and 'Most Original/Creative'. The awards will culminate in the much anticipated announcement of 'Best Overall Video', the winners of which will be heading off on a 'prize-of-a-lifetime' team trip to New York. An added award this year 'The People's Choice Award' is sure to generate lots of excitement. For the first time ever  the public will get to vote on their favourite short listed video. The 30 short listed videos will be made public on YouTube three weeks before the ceremony and voting will be left open for two weeks. The 'Youth for Decent Work Awards' is an important event that highlights young people's engagement with the trade union movement.
