The Aviation Sector Committee moved two motions at the TEAC Divisional Conference which was held in the Tower Hotel, Waterford on the 21st-22nd November, 2024.
Our first motion on the General Officer Structure of the Union was first raised at the SIPTU Biennial Delegate Conference in November 2023 and which was unanimously approved by the conference delegates.
This motion to the recent TEAC Divisional Conference called on the NEC to follow through on the BDC delegates’ unanimous passing of this motion and to set up a body with immediate effect to revisit and to review the General Officer structures of this Union.
We are delighted to report that the General Secretary, Joe Cunningham, confirmed at Conference that the National Executive Council have established a sub-committee to look at the General Officer Structures and the sub-committee is now inviting submissions from Divisional, Sector, District Councils, Retired Members and Equality Committees to assist in reporting back to the Biennial Delegates Conference in 2025.
The closing date for submissions is Friday 28th February 2025.
The second motion moved at the TEAC Conference calls on the NEC to ensure that this Union puts in place an appropriate robust consultation process with the general membership prior to adopting a position on important political and social issues.
